Vice Ganda admits missing mom in concert

In spite of the massive success of his first major concert, Vice Ganda admitted feeling quite sad that his mother was not able to come.

“Gusto nga sana niyang pumunta, sabi pa niya, ‘Aabot pa kaya ako diyan?’

He enthused, though, that he was able to talk to his mother, who is currently working in the US, before the show.

For a relative beginner in showbiz, Jose Mari Viceral drew in an estimated 20,000 crowd for “May nag-text… ‘Yung totoo! Vice Ganda sa Araneta”—one of the few shows lately that have filled the entire Araneta Coliseum, last May 15.

Albeit the stand-up comedian confessed feeling dissatisfied with his performance during the four-hour show—“Meron pa akong mga gustong gawin na hindi ko nagawa kanina… Hindi ko pa naitodo”— he realized that what is more important is the audience’s satisfaction.

“…kasi sila ‘yung nagbayad. Kaya sana, kahit hindi ako na-satisfy, na-satisfy din sila sa napanood nila,” he said.

The “Showtime” judge also revealed that he had an accident during the rehearsal when he almost fell from 30 feet above because the harness attached to his waist and legs loosened.

In a previous interview, Vice said he intended to perform a number literally up in the air, reminiscent of international artist Pink’s performance at the recent Grammy awards. However, he was not able to go all the way because of the accident.

Even so, the production number was still considered as one of the shining moments of the show—if not its major highlight.

Special guests who graced the show were fellow “Showtime” host Kuya Kim Atienza, judge Jhong Hilario (who gave a “butt,” or rather, “brief” exposure), Jon Avila and Callalily’s Kean Cipriano (who serenaded Vice), Pooh, Ethel Booba, Jaya and .

Spotted in the audience were , Vhong Navarro and Gladys Reyes (also from “Showtime”), ABS-CBN Channel Head Cory Vidanes and Vice’s manager , reported “TV Patrol Linggo.”

Vice channeled Popstar Princess Sarah Geronimo during his performance with surprise guest John Lloyd Cruz. He handed him a bouquet of flowers and sang “A Very Special Love” and “You Changed My Life” (though Vice did most of the singing).

Amid all the revelations, the host-comedian is very thankful for the continued outpouring of blessings.

“Maraming maraming salamat po sa suporta at pagmamahal nyo! hanggang ngayon ‘di pa rin ako makapaniwala sa magagandang nangyayari sa buhay ko! salamat at pinahintulutan nIyo ‘kong maranasan ang lahat ng ito ngayon!!” he wrote on his much-followed official Facebook page yesterday. mb.com.ph
